The ten factors of the path of the Arahant

Dependent ordering of the factors

  1. Right view comes first
  2. In one of right view, right intention comes into being
  3. In one of right intention, right speech comes into being
  4. In one of right speech, right action comes into being
  5. In one of right action, right livelihood comes into being
  6. In one of right livelihood, right effort comes into being
  7. In one of right effort, right mindfulness comes into being
  8. In one of right mindfulness, right concentration comes into being
  9. In one of right concentration, right knowledge comes into being
  10. In one of right knowledge, right deliverance comes into being
‘‘Tatra, bhikkhave, sammādiṭṭhi pubbaṅgamā hoti. Kathañca, bhikkhave, sammādiṭṭhi pubbaṅgamā hoti? Sammādiṭṭhissa, bhikkhave, sammāsaṅkappo pahoti, sammāsaṅkappassa sammāvācā pahoti, sammāvācassa sammākammanto pahoti, sammākammantassa sammāājīvo pahoti, sammāājīvassa sammāvāyāmo pahoti, sammāvāyāmassa sammāsati pahoti, sammāsatissa sammāsamādhi pahoti, sammāsamādhissa sammāñāṇaṃ pahoti, sammāñāṇassa sammāvimutti pahoti. Iti kho, bhikkhave, aṭṭhaṅgasamannāgato sekkho, dasaṅgasamannāgato arahā hoti. (Tatrapi sammāñāṇena aneke pāpakā akusalā dhammā vigatā bhāvanāpāripūriṃ gacchanti).
